Fire Extinguisher
Fire extinguishing equipment shall be provided at readily accessible and adequately marked locations at a project. Every worker who may be required to use fire extinguishing equipment shall be trained in its use. Workers need to be aware of the common causes of fires in the workplace, and methods of hazard control.
This 2-3 hour course will teach participants to:
- Identify legislation that applies to fire extinguishers on construction projects
- Know the different classes of fires, and the different types of extinguishers and when each may be used to put out a fire
- Become familiar with how to use, maintain, and inspect a portable fire extinguisher
Participants will learn about fire hazards in the workplace, fire prevention and the importance of fire emergency response plans. Participants will also review when it is safe to attempt to extinguish a fire and the instructor will demonstrate how to use a fire extinguisher.
